  We had a fantastic time with Captain John and Casco Bay Adventures! We went with younger children, and they had a blast! Captain John taught them how to catch and... read more measure lobsters. They also went fishing, saw an island full of seals, pretended to drive the boat, and went swimming. He answered tons of questions I had about the Casco Bay Islands, and took us to see some of the further places like Cliff Island, and some neighboring islands. I highly recommend them, great fun for all ages!

Everyone had a different favorite part to the day and that was pretty magical. Even 10-month old Hunky who loved it when we accelerated 🙂

  What a wonderful experience! The weekend we came to Portland ended up being rainy and cold. Capt Bill called to make sure we still wanted to go in the bad... read more weather, and even offered to bring parkas when we told him we would still like to go. We got lucky and had a break in the rain for the trip. We saw lighthouses, eagles, seals and more. We learned some of the history of Portland and got to see the small islands in Casco Bay. Capt Bill even showed my 13 yo how to drive the boat and let my 20 yo son pull in a lobster trap. We are so glad we went even if it was a little cold. I highly recommend choosing this trip!

  We had an absolutely fantastic time on Captain John’s boat this week. We were looking for a quick two hour tour hitting the highlights of Casco Bay and Portland Harbor... read more and Capt. John delivered: nice little tour of the harbor with some WWII history about the different forts, views of two lighthouses, mackerel fishing, and lobstering. Capt. John kept our three teenage sons engaged as he allowed them to hook and he pulled and measured the eight (!?!) lobsters from the traps. We were also fortunate enough to stumble on a group of porpoises and then swung over to seal rock for some additional entertainment. We couldn’t have asked for a better day, trip and guide to experience Portland’s Harbor.

John was my high school teacher, and to see him do his thing during our 2+ hour cruise brought back some fantastic memories!

The girls got to fish for mackerel and pollock, haul lobster traps, band the lobsters, see seals, and "drive" the boat.
